Educate Your Teen About Drug Abuse During National Drug Facts Week: November 8 November 14

November 5, 2010

National Drug Facts WeekMark your calendars! Next week is National Drug Facts Week (NDFW), a week-long health observance week held by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)for teens that aims to shatter the myths about drug and alcohol abuse. Encourage your teen or young adult to participate in this national dialogue to ask questions about drugs, and get scientific, factual answers in return. Parents and adults are welcome, too!

Here are three exciting events were looking forward to next week:

National Drug IQ Challenge

Think you know a lot about drugs and alcohol? You may be surprised. Beginning on Monday November 8th, test your drug IQ with the National Drug IQ Challenge: A 20-question multiple choice quiz to test your science based knowledge about drugs. High scorers will be rewarded 5 additional Brainiac questions that focus on the brain.

Drug Facts Chat Day

Chat withdrug and alcoholexperts on Tuesday November 9th atthe annual Drug Facts Chat Day from 8 am to 6 pm EST. NIDA scientists will chat with thousands of teens who have questions about drugs. Students will need a single access code to log-in and ask questions during the chat—ask your teens school if theyre registered. If you or your teen cant attend, chat transcripts will be available online, which you can read together at home.

CyberShoutout

Web-savvy? A simple way to help shatter the myths about drug abuse is tweeting, blogging of Facebook-ing any or all of the suggested language provided on their website. For example, change your Facebook status next week to: @_____ @_____ @_____ @_____ you’ve been tagged! Spread the word about National Drug Facts Week and tag 5 other friends to help spread the word http://bit.ly/9rUsL8.
